There was a mintage of only 15,000 sets and each of the forty medals has a matching book signed by an Indian Tribal leader. It is a complete set of Franklin Mints 40 Indian Tribal Series Commemorative Books published between 1971 and 1976, and various correspondences to the original owner. It also contains 38 medals, thus making it an incomplete set of medals. The two missing medals are: The Eskimo and The Potawatomi of Oklahoma.
Some coins have tarnish around the edges and marring on the plastic protective cover. Since each medal has approximately 0.79 oz of. 999silver, the 38 medals contain about 30 ounces of silver. These were all in pristine condition until a flood happened in the storeroom, and now the books are in rough shape. The books are warped, covers are wrinkled, signatures marred, and mold has taken hold.
Its a tragedy for such important memorabilia. The books have soft, blue paper covers with an embossed seal associated with the respective tribe. There is silver, embossed lettering of the respective tribe on the spine of each book.
On the first page of each book is the date, the number of the edition, any correspondence with the original owner, and the signature of the Tribal Authority. Following is a list of the Tribes associated with these books. The Wichita People, The Modoc People, The Potawatomi People, The Eskimo People, The Apache People (Coyotero), The Crow People, The Osage People, The Papago People, The Yakima People, The Coushatta People, The Havasupai People, The Hopi People, The Sioux People, The Paiute People, The Navajo People, The Quapaw People, The Chitimacha People, The Kenaitzw People, The Southern Ute People, The Comanche People, The Oneida People, The Chickasaw People, The Cherokee People, The Kalispel People, The Florida Seminole People, The Seneca People, Walapai People, The Ottawa People, The Otoe-Missouria People, The Pawnee People, The Narragansett People, The Kaw People, The Kickapoo People, The Ponca People, The Chippewa People (Minn), The Creek People.
