Franklin Mint Sterling Silver Plate Riding to the Hunt James Wyeth COA 174 grams

  
Offered here is a Franklin Mint limited edition collectors plate "Riding to the Hunt" that belonged to my parents. This is the first from a series of five sterling plates with etchings of art by James Wyeth. The plate is signed by the artist and dated 1974. It is numbered 2569 on the back of the plate and marked as solid Sterling Silver. On the Cover of of the Certificate. Third in a series of five annual silver collector's plates. Individually etched and serially numbered by The Franklin Mink in solid sterling silver. "The certifies that the solid sterling silver plate originally accompanying this Certificate, and identified by the same serial number, was produced by the Franklin Mint and bears an etching of the original work entitled "Riding to the Hunt, created by James Wyeth expressly for this limited edition. Size: Measures 8 in diameter. Weight of Plate: 6.2 oz (174 grams). Certificate: Comes with the original certificate of Authenticity, which is numbered to match the number on the back of the plate. The folio is a bit bent, and the certificate is a bit crumpled and has a small tear on left side (see photos). Serial Number 2569, Mar 1 1974 (see photo). The original box is NOT included.

I remember using the empty box, which looked like a leather-bound book, as a hidden-compartment book/box on my bookshelf. I'm not sure where it is now.

Condition: The plate is in very good condition except for minor areas of wear on the front rim where the plate touched the glass in its frame and the protective lacquer (to keep it from tarnishing) has worn off a bit (see photos). I have a signed, dated letter from Franklin Mint for one of the other James Wyeth plates in this set ("Brandywine Battlefield") that states that the medallion on the back of the plate is also sterling silver.

I will include a photocopy of that letter along with this plate. I do my best to honestly and accurately describe and fully disclose all information about my items for sale.
