Franklin Mint University of Virginia Sterling Silver Alumni Plate 24K Gold UVA

  

LIMITED EDITION 1976 FRANKLIN MINT UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA ALUMNI PLATE SOLID STERLING SILVER WITH INLAID 24K GOLD. It was made in 1976 and depicts the University Chapel on the UVA campus. The plate is made of solid sterling silver inlaid with 24K gold.

It measures about 8" in diameter and comes in a shadow box type wood frame that is 12" square. The reverse side of the frame has an opening to show the markings on the back of the plate. It is numbered "307" and dated 1976.

I removed the plate from the frame to weigh the silver on my jeweler scale and it weighed 172.9 grams approx. Condition of this University of Virginia alumni plate is EXCELLENT. Its only condition issues are some losses to the protective lacquer in several areas along the outer rim (probably from contact with the glass) and some scratches on the bottom edge of the base. The wood frame is in excellent shape.

Overall, this special plate looks great and displays well. It would be a fine gift for any UVA graduate. Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself.
