Franklin Mint Governors' Statehood Conference Sterling Silver Proof Medals (50). The National Governors' Conference commissioned the Franklin Mint in 1974 to issue a series of 50 medals and first day postal covers to commemorate each of the 50 states in the United States.

Each medal is 39mm in diameter, made of Sterling Silver and struck in a full proof finish. Each medal contains 0.61 troy ounces of Sterling Siver with a total collection weight of 30.5 troy ounces.

All the medals are flawless, with mirror-like fields and no toning. Each first day cover is postmarked in the capital of the State it honors, on the first day of issue.

The collection for sale here is the complete set of medals and first day covers. It is housed in a large hard cover book with each medal and cover enclosed in a protective vinyl envelope.
