Circling the bowl is a masterfully sculptured frieze presenting the dramatic sweep of our nation's 200-year-history - from the signing of the Declaration of Independence to the celebration of the Bicentennial. Included are scenes portraying the great migrations westward, the ordeal of the Civil War, the crossing of the continent by rail, the marvelous age of invention and the triumph of man's first landing on the moon.

The frieze, measuring over 43 inches, is the most extensive single work ever undertaken by the sculptor of The Franklin Mint. The first bowl, bearing serial number 1, was presented to President Gerald R.
