This beautiful sterling silver thimble set was produced by Franklin Mint in 1978. Each thimble represents one of the original 13 Colonies: Virginia, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Georgia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and South Carolina. This was a limited edition set with each thimble lined in gold.
The set includes a 6-1/2 wooden stand lined with red felt and a glass dome to keep them clean. In the last photo the dome looks a little dark but it's just because of the lighting, it's completely clear with no chips or cracks. The thimbles and stand are in mint condition with no damage. Because these photos are greatly enlarged, any scratch or ding shows up more than it does in real life. I insure through a private company (Endicia) so although it doesn't show up on your package, it truly is insured. Be sure to watch my other auctions as I'll be listing more thimbles and sewing related items as time allows.
