A complete original 50-piece Franklin Mint States of the Union Mini-Coin Set - First Edition in Sterling Silver. This charming vintage collection contains all 50 miniature state medals, representing every state in the Union. 925 sterling silver piece features a distinctive design celebrating the history, landmarks, symbols, or character of its respective state. The original 1969 Franklin Mint advertisement specifically calls it the "First Edition States of the Union Mini-Coin Set" and lists each coin as being 1.15 grams for a total of approximately 56 grams of total sterling silver or the complete 50 piece set. The set was produced by The Franklin Mint in 1969 and is a wonderful example of the detailed miniature collectibles for which Franklin Mint became known.

I have owned this set since I was a child, and I remember how much fun it was to collect these extraordinary little miniatures. At the time, there was something magical about having all of the states represented in such tiny, beautifully detailed sterling silver pieces. After all these years, the remarkable thing is that all 50 original miniatures are still together - the complete collection from Alabama through Wyoming. The coins display the age and character one would expect from a vintage collection, including varying degrees of natural toning and surface patina. The original Franklin Mint presentation case is included and has the attractive blue velvet interior designed to display the miniature collection. This would make a wonderful addition to a Franklin Mint collection, sterling silver collection, Americana display, or state memorabilia collection.
