This 50 coin proof sterling medal set took several years, and art competitions in each of the fifty states with several thousand dollars awarded to the winning designer. With over 3,000 competitors this was an arduous task, but worth it when you look at these resulting proof medals! Many of these designs were used, with some variations, in the creation of statehood quarters when they came out!

Many of the photos came out looking more gold colored that silver, this is due to the direct lighting.
