The Franklin Mint issued this medal as a part of their "Eyewitness Medal Series" in commemoration of Woods' victory in the 1997 Masters Golf Tournament.

The Woods enterprise brought suit over the use of Tiger's likeness and indicating that the Franklin Mint medal was "low end merchandise of the type which Tiger Woods does not wish to associate himself".
